Interestingly enough this package back is a different format than the one pictured on the listing. And, while it does have less added sugars, it has the same total carbs … with more sodium (2x).
I was one of the customers whose Peelerz arrived with the contents melted into a complete blob. Interestingly enough, we had just discovered these at our local CVS just prior to seeing them on here and were excited to get them. We did get a full refund after sending in a pic of the melted blob. I would love to have some, but now that it stated that they could be melted is that the chance I gotta take, or if I am again one of the unlucky 5%, does that mean I am stuck with them and have wasted the $12? Or can I still get a refund?
@jmrobinett@joelmw
Idk, there is an expectation that the thing you buy will show up in the shape it was advertised. I think it’s the company’s responsibility to ensure the packaging protects the product, not the purchaser’s burden to adjust expectations.
But, meh is a discount reseller, AND the warning I feel gets them out of this pickle.
@blaineg@whogots well, “kerning” is probably on the porn sites too. I didn’t know they called it that.
Seriously, I do appreciate fonts and typography. Been around since early typewriters, and SCM electric typewriter (wonder where it went), a teletype terminal, a computer daisy-wheel printer where you could change fonts if you bought more wheels, the incredibly complex but reliable mechanical IBM Selectric. It all went downhill after dot-matrix.
@blaineg@pmarin@whogots Bad keming can be useful sometimes. A friend was job hunting, and wanted to hide her Facebook page, so she changed the spelling of her first name from Amie to Arnie.
@chienfou mostly inconvenient, but it also kind of ruins the experience as they are meant to be a fruit with an interior and an exterior. When they melt, they become homogenous.
Well, they’re not really peelable, I tried. But it doesn’t matter, these things are good! Sometimes I open a bag of bananer and a bag or pineapple and eat them together.
What are they comparing this to for a retail value of $89.94? I can’t find a comparable size package of 4.25 oz, the link shows 6 oz packages, or multiple packages of 2, 3, 6, 8 (or more) oz packages.
@televiper Authentic just means it tastes right, according to somebody who thinks so. The term has no FDA-defined meaning, unlike “natural flavor”, which effectively means “extracted from something that had DNA.”
I looked for them at Dollar Tree. They did not have mango but they did have soursop. I thought the flavor was good. They were in two large, stuck-together blobs. I managed to peel a couple of them but it was not easy.
@cf1
oh… I love soursop. Didn’t ANY of the flavors at my local (central AL) $tree.
Just checked the website… only one they list there is the Amos Snowflake “Swedish style candy”…
I iz sad.
@cf1@chienfou Oh, just looked it up & I have tried it, in Brazil, but they call it “fruta do conde” there. Yes, it’s delicious! I wish they had the Peelerz in that flavor here.
@chienfou@cf1 Apparently you found something rare! I guess they do limited edition flavors & that was one of them. Look what someone’s asking for a single package.
2 people watching it too.
Box arrived, packet opened, contents not congealed into a lump. The peelability is a marketing myth, the initial flavor hit is a little off but still decidedly Mango, and the sugar is at world levels instead of US-customary, which is actually a nice surprise.

@communist Frightening
@communist @heartny I don’t think anybody comes here for health food (or wise investments).
@communist @heartny @phendrick
True, but everybody has a line. For us the nut mixes and kind bars make the cut, but this is a bit too much syrup for us.

No poll?
@tweezak I think it’s the best category of candy poll that mysteriously posted last night.

I want to buy these but I’m afraid I’ll only be peeling a giant glob out of each bag.

@jmrobinett Fwiw, if it were me, I’d definitely not give you the money back, unless there’s an argument that the melted blob is inedible.
They’ve told us it might happen. If I get some, I’ll assume they’re likely to be. It’d be another thing if they promised to the contrary.

Too Much Sugar and Carbs… Hard Pass. If they are made in China, that’s another BIG PASS!!!
Font selection is my passion. That does not look like a “G” in “Gummy.”
@whogots It certainly does not!
@andyw @whogots I think he is on one of the porn sites. At least all natural; no artificial flavors there.
@whogots

@blaineg @whogots At some point, all new knowledge is cursed knowledge.
@blaineg @whogots well, “kerning” is probably on the porn sites too. I didn’t know they called it that.

Argh! Curse this revelation!
…Done.

Do not order food products! Never packaged safely. Only get partial refund, and have to throw the rest away.
So if these congeal into one giant blob (per bag) are they inedible or just inconvenient …
@chienfou They don’t
@chienfou mostly inconvenient, but it also kind of ruins the experience as they are meant to be a fruit with an interior and an exterior. When they melt, they become homogenous.
@chienfou That is how mine showed up. They are edible, but get super messy and you lose the ‘fun’ part of why these were purchased.
Well, they’re not really peelable, I tried. But it doesn’t matter, these things are good! Sometimes I open a bag of bananer and a bag or pineapple and eat them together.
Not Vegetarian, if anyone is wondering.

Bought these last time. They’re not very good but OK as a cheap gummie snack. It’s a mystery that they say these are peelable. They are not.
Was going to try them but shipping of $9.99? NAH!! Found the same one at TJ Maxx for $4. Bought one to try.
Read the ingredients and it contains “Carnauba Wax.” Will buy some for my car.
@foreverrestless It’s less problematic than paraffin, which the FDA still allows as a coating for certain things.
how is photo 6 calling out “authentic fruit flavor” when it’s clearly labeled as artificially flavored? It’s pretend authentic?
@televiper that’s on-brand with this place
@pakopako @televiper It’s got mango jam in there, so partially authentic?
@televiper Authentic just means it tastes right, according to somebody who thinks so. The term has no FDA-defined meaning, unlike “natural flavor”, which effectively means “extracted from something that had DNA.”
can’t beat free shipping!! These are ok, not really peelable as marketed, and messy as hell if you so choose to attempt to peel. Can’t beat 12 for $12
@philhuei
ummm… shipping is only free of you are a member or VMP. You are neither according to your profile.
@chienfou I got no comment for those who don’t know. IYKYK. And you clearly DK…
@philhuei
Claro
Uh I can peel them in sections and they’re not that messy at all? I’m confused— and the smell is outstanding!
I looked for them at Dollar Tree. They did not have mango but they did have soursop. I thought the flavor was good. They were in two large, stuck-together blobs. I managed to peel a couple of them but it was not easy.

@chienfou Be careful – you might end up with a case of them next swap
@cf1
gee… that would be aweful!!!
@cf1 @chienfou
I’ve never tasted soursop!
@cf1 @Kyeh
It’s one of my favorite island flavors (aka Guanabana). See it a lot in the Carib.
@cf1 @chienfou Oh, just looked it up & I have tried it, in Brazil, but they call it “fruta do conde” there. Yes, it’s delicious! I wish they had the Peelerz in that flavor here.

Damn TicToc!
@chienfou @Kyeh Now I’m sorry I ate them. I could’ve been rich!
@cf1 @chienfou
They finally pulled down this sale. Of course, now you can get 24 for $24 on side deal… Essentially a double order.
@chienfou I’m tempted to be the envy of co-workers.
@pakopako
Don’t forget, if you’re a VMP you get 10% off.

@werehatrack I find that, while not a-peeling, the texture of a chewy mochi exterior and a gummy-bear interior was attractive.
