I thought I had permanently lost my way and was doomed to roam in the Dark. But, no! Meh to the rescue! Now, can you help me find my phone so I can turn these things on?

@uscpsycho Truth be told, unless you’re breaking the bank for higher end outdoor lights made with quality aluminum or similar metal, this is the norm for most outdoor lights. The sun daily beats on them relentlessly, they’re kicked and tripped over, and often don’t last longer than a year or two.
This is why I typically aim for solar power (non-smart) lights. So when they randomly fail, I can simply remove and replace them instead of needing to cut/splice and wire in a new light.
Id use these wired lights for a flowerbed with fairly soft soil but not on a walkway flanked by grass.
@uscpsycho This might have been the greatest incentive to get them from Costco. They are very good at accepting returns regardless of timing or reasons. I wonder if meh has a generous return policy?
@theonlybuster@uscpsycho The solar ones, some are better than others, of course. Most are pretty cheap crap, but you can maintain them a bit. Main thing is the batteries. Some can be restored with good chargers, or you can replace with better ones. The solar panels can get obscured because of plastic in the Sun. You could hack that, but I haven’t tried yet.
These non-solar ones, seem like they would hold up better. But price seems pretty high for questionable product.

Looking at the photos and how the power is run, I’m pretty sure that running an unprotected 120VAC cord along your pathway is a bad idea.
@thevorlon you’d bury the cord and connect it to a grounded outdoor outlet like thousands of people do every Christmas season.

I was tempted. But if you read the reviews on Amazon, these do not last. Many complaints from people who loved them at first but soon hated them.

@pheaton I have spent some Winter nights in Nebraska and I kind-of like it.
And for what it’s worth, nicer than Wyoming.
It says height 8 inches but pictures make it look bigger than that. Waiting for 8 inches TWSS joke….
The “link up to 40” makes me realize this could become a costly addiction even at Meh prices.
