AI Imagery throughout the community page.
2I was just told of this website and the only dealbreaker for ever purchasing from here was the glaring AI imagery in the community tag.
I understand that its either easier, cheaper, or whatever, but there are so many artists within these communities that would love to assist and put out their work. And its so unethical ecologically.
Especially with this site being the branch-away from Amazon as a conglomerate, its disheartening.

/showme A reaction image of a man staring blankly in disbelief
@Mehnt2Be Here’s the image you requested for “A reaction image of a man staring blankly in disbelief”
I think you have this site confused with the other one that starts with a W…
/showme the throngs of artists eager to illustrate dumb pictures for free on a dumb website that sells sketchy stuff one thing at a time that we love
@djslack Here’s the image you requested for “the throngs of artists eager to illustrate dumb pictures for free on a dumb website that sells sk…”
@djslack @mediocrebot I’m glad to see they have a banana for scale.
@djslack @heartny @mediocrebot
/giphy banana nana nana nana nana

@djslack @heartny @mediocrebot
At least Marge and dog are yellow.
@djslack @heartny @mediocrebot it’s kinda awesome some of them are trying to draw the irk.
It also reminds me of a writer’s joke. If you’re a bad writer you go to hell where you’re chained to a typewriter, always under a deadline that’s coming up, eating cold coffee, and writing thousands upon thousands of pages you have to edit yourself by hand.
If you’ve been a good writer, you get sent to heaven. It’s mostly the same, but they promise you there’s a chance you could get published.
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
Buying cheap imported crap from websites is unethical ecologically. As they say, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism. If the scale runs from receiving multiple Amazon packages a day to buying heirloom carrots from your neighbor, shopping from meh is about 90% of the way to the Amazon end.
@tet3
Oh, goodness. Bless your little heart
I think you’re at the wrong website
You might have bothered to figure this out before you spoke.
Your comment is roughly the equivalent of spouting hot political propaganda at your neighbor’s backyard BBQ, or at a class for future professional bull riders.
So, you’re slightly out of place.

G’day.
Here you have a Cat making Pizza for Joe’s Cat House Pizza shop. All pizza are made by cats!
@mycya4me I love cats, but I would not want pizza with cat hair in it, even if they washed those little paws.
@Kyeh @mycya4me
IME, if you have one or more cats, you (inevitably) ingest some non-zero amount of cat hair…
@macromeh @mycya4me Same with dogs. It’s worth it - but I do try to minimize the amount.
@Kyeh remember that they have been brushed & wear hair nets under the hat. Plus it is the BEST Pizza around, made with a LOT of TLC! But only the Best is served. Remember there are Cat cafes out there.
@Kyeh @macromeh All pet owner’s know that, or better yet All there are Owned by a Cat/Dog knows their fur is Everywhere!
@Kyeh @macromeh just look at that face… can’t you just see the Love
there,
@macromeh @mycya4me The face is adorable, but it would need a full body net, not just a hair net! Cat cafes are for admiring cats, not being served by them.
@Kyeh @macromeh So they need to upgrade their service. Also the idea is to take a cat home!
Nah, I agree. The AI slop has been a big turn off.
@Crunchymunchy
Ok. Some people feel that way.
It’s a cute auto generation engine run by simple command. For forum participant amusement only.
I kinda hate AI. But here we are, and, turn off or not, in the wide world, it’s not going anywhere.
Tried customer service lately? Tried searching for something, anything? Tried new cars? Tried contacting any corporation? Tried sending a whatsapp or text message? Tried writing something involving more than 3 letters long in your phone?
Yeah. It sucks. And it’s going to take over everything that we can imagine.
Possible the extreme rich and billionaires will be exempt. Possibly not.
If we didn’t have it her, we’d all be back to giphy, I guess.
Eh, the “showme” command was a novelty when the results were clunky and plagued with errors, then the engine was swapped up (more than once?) to something that could often spell stuff correctly and not make egregious anatomy errors, at which point it started to be almost a cliche. I’ve been backing away from using it, but then, I’ve been spending less time online altogether, so cause and effect are intermingled for me. But in my “worth what I charge for it” opinion, the bottom line will be that if you want a quick throw-away gag (which is what nearly all of the “showme” images are), you’re not going to engage in a search for an artist to hire or to buy an existing image from. (And since I used to design T-shirts, I know just how much of a pain in the ass that search can be even without adding in the cash cost.) Ergo, having the utility of summoning a generated image sometimes adds to the discussion, and sometimes adds to the cussin’ and concussion(s). But I’ll admit that it’s often overused, sometimes to the point of absurdity.
Would we be better off without the slop in at this point? I’m not sure I know. Could we do without it? Demonstrably, yes, since the forum predates the slop, and the participation level used to be higher than it is now. Whether the slop caused any of the activity reduction is not a question I can address.
So, maybe it’s time to turn off the “showme” (mis)feature, but I’m not going to claim to know if that’s a good idea.
We can, of course, consult the native Oracle…
/8ball It is time to turn off the showme feature?
Signs point to yes
@werehatrack
/8ball is there such a “good AI?
Reply hazy try again
@f00l @werehatrack The 8 ball seems to be pointing towards an inevitable conclusion. The world may soon be overrun by alcohol fueled bending robots of great strength and indifference, but questionable intelligence.
