I have my Mom’s Keurig, so I ONLY use it for Hot CoCo during the cooler months. I don’t drink hot stuff during the Warmer months as I am trying to keep cooler! The same goes with the Cooler months, No IceCream or cold stuff!
@mycya4me But drinking hot stuff makes you sweat and that keeps you cooler. That’s why spicy food is more popular in Central America than Norway.
I worked college vacation two summers in an ice cream vault where the temperature was a balmy -24 degrees F when I opened up in the early hours. If there was a delay in production, instead of standing around shivering from no activity, I’d grab some of the ice cream novelties that were casualties from rough handling the day before and chow down on those to keep warm. Fresh ice cream sandwiches were my favorite. Gained no weight those summers.
“Sweat helps cool people off” (acted on in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, summers, during the late 1900s when my friend lived there) kinda gave way to the joys of AC.
And, in the days before AC, I hear my relatives all preferred iced tea
Especially since they had access to refrigerators and ice boxes and could make the tea and keep it cool even 120 years ago.
(I hear ice was delivered to homes and businesses in a manner similar to milk. I don’t know how the ice box sources made their ice.)
Being a Texan, I’ll take the iced tea and AC.
(It’s a heritage thing. (Surely not about comfort!).
@phendrick Hey I work at a Meat packing plant as IT support. Yes you had to go to fix computer stuff in the Refrigerated areas. I had to wear a jacket to work in there. I would NOT drink cold stuff in there. In fact I don’t even like water with ice in it, no matter the time of year. Just tap temp water.

But that concern doesn’t bother me nearly as much as wondering how many unwashed hands handled the salt and pepper shakers and the hot sauce bottles. Since all the convincing PSAs about hand washing during the Covid-19 mess, that’s the one remaining caution I still take pretty seriously.
@Kyeh@phendrick when I started working many decades ago. I worked in a dish room & a janitor, Tales I could tell, lessons I learned would scare many people. I also learned some important skills that I have used in the rest of my life.

I do go to a LOT of SciFi cons, most of the time they have Room parties that pretty much by invite only… It is extreme easy to get an invite. You know someone invited, You are over 22. Most of the time you have a room at the hotel/ or close by.
I know nearly everyone at the party. Having a Mocktail makes people more comfortable around as you have a drink that is NOT H20.
Since I don’t go to bars I did not have to pay ANYthing!

A couple months ago I got a free tumbler from them. But I just now realized I lost it somewhere between Spain and Albania.
@kittykat9180 To be honest, I haven’t ordered from them in some time. I did build a cool little tea bar for my wife and stocked it with 20+ types/flavors of loose tea. She could mix and match all sorts of different combinations. And that ingenuiTEA is pretty cool. You can toss in pinches of however many flavors you want and add your boiling water and let it steep. Then just set it on top of your mug and it drains through the filter. Easy to clean up too

Actual humans are also better at typing than pod people are. I meant to have a human handy for that task this morning, but the “human” turned out to be just another good looking pod person.

Nothing beats a fresh roasted, fresh ground, slow drip cup of good coffee. That said, it’s hard to come by regularly (especially since the “sundollars” joint and most like it burn their coffee) so these pods aren’t bad at work where we only have a pod machine.
The German K-fee system that Starbucks licensed to make the Verismo line is my favourite brewer, but sadly it’s completely unsupported now since Starbies jumped on the k-cup craze.
It makes both drip and espresso, and does a lovely steamed milk from powder capsules, but I’ve only got a couple dozen capsules left and then I will no longer have any use for it unless I order pods from overseas.
For a while, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf had their CBTL Capsules based on the Caffitaly system which were shaped closely enough to have worked in the Verismo, but they too have moved to K-cups.
