@baqui63
My hearing aids are Bluetooth capable so I can technically use them to listen to audio sources. My problem is I despise answering my phone on my hearing aids (or earbuds for that matter). Guess I should dig around the settings more and see if I can allow them to connect for audio sources but not phone calls.
Plus I frequently use a Bluetooth speaker in the house for background music. This would mean having to go in and change my setting to disconnect my hearing aids from the audio source each time I wanted to listen to the speakers. Much easier to just take out my hearing aids and use the earbuds (which will automatically disconnect when I put them back in the case to charge when I’m done using them).
@heartny
Since I’m only listening to music while doing some other task when I use ear buds, lag has never been a problem for me. I can see how that would be very annoying though.
@NapkinEater That worked for one of my friends and their AirPods, but the smallest tips in the set were still ~30% too large to comfortably fit my ears when I tried.
I have found a couple of sets that fit decently. My biggest problem is that I frequently want to wear them when I’m using the mower. This includes using shooting range style (over ear) hearing protectors, and it’s always a crap shoot whether they’ll stay in my ears or fall out into the cups while I’m trying to put the ear pro on. Oh, and I have dropped one in the fish pond while I was cleaning it out (the pond, not the ear bud). Turns out that brand is NOT submersible.
Some of those over-the-ear protector style cans made for suppressing noise at loud events and loud locations and for shooting ranges also include decent quality Bluetooth and speakers.
I don’t know who makes them but I’ve seen them on Amazon.
Maybe 3M makes these.
None of these will likely compete with $600 Sennheisers. But, if I remember, reviews indicated they were at least decent for music podcasts audiobooks etc.
Ear buds fall out of my ears way too easily, especially if I chew on something while they’re in my ears. I’ve also had an ear bud fall out but leave the pad in my ear. That was fun.
The preblem I’ve had wth my last two sets is they don’t turn off when put into the case and when they do they keep randomly turning on and reconnecting to my phone.
I’d try to watch a video or use voice to text and couldn’t figure out why it’s not working. Then I’d see the headphone had turned on and connected from inside their case.
Broke down and bought expensive airpod pros, must say that I love them. I am currently driving a vehicle every day that doesn’t have a radio, so I use my airpods every day.
Hmm, all these posts about earbuds with poor/uncomfortable fit lead me to believe that my long-held notion that I can’t wear them because my ears are non-standard may not be the case…
I can’t stand when people are walking around talking on them so freaking loud. I was in a waiting room a couple of weeks ago and this lady had them in and was yapping so loud. I don’t know if she had the volume turned way up and that’s why she was yapping really loud but it was annoying especially bc everybody else was quiet.
Ap[parently, my ear canals are tapered such that the natural wax lubricant ensures that if the earpod’s “cushion” is tight enough not to self-eject, then it’s WAY past being painfully tight. I made a custom adapter for a Bluetooth headset once, using two-part foam, and it was tolerable for about 30 minutes at a time.
@mycya4me@pakopako
Which can effectively make excellent earbuds if they’re Bluetooth to your source. I just don’t like to answer my phone on mine. That’s why I don’t use them for that.
@chienfou@pakopako Yep that is what I LOVE about my Beltone earbuds. Plus if you are at Let say a concert. Just leave them in & Mute them! aka Eat Plugs! Plus using the Maps directing you somewhere. it is piped into your ears, Yes I do like using the Phone most of the time, Especially when I am driving!
Fell out sometimes without me noticing if I wasnt listening at the time.
Now using bone conduction Shockz which I love. You can hear all the ambient sound so they won’t do for lawn mowing or similar. The cheaper knock off version used to be garbage. But are getting way better. I have two different cheap bond conductions sets I like. Both under $30
My use is spoken word. Audiobooks. Great for that.
@f00l Yes I have some bone conduction headphones. they were pretty good, especially when cutting grass or other Hi noise activity. You can still listen to Music while cutting the grass & have ear plug in the ears!
I’ve never found any earbuds that come close to being able to fit into my ears without causing bleeding.
@brennyn Mine don’t bleed because I yank those buds out before it gets that bad.
@brennyn Please tell me you’re being figurative
Do not fit well in my ears.
@hchavers Same here.
being earbuds.
not compatible with hearing aids and mostly suck as hearing aid replacements
Left one is always too big if right one fits. if left one fits, right one is too small.
rarely comfortable

@baqui63 Oh yeah! I should try different size pads on my left and right ear buds!
Bluetooth lag makes it seem like I’m interrupting people when I talk on conference calls. Sometimes I just don’t say anything because of that.
@heartny

I don’t know. I have none.
For all those complaining about fit/comfort, I highly recommend buying the aftermarket foam tips. I wouldn’t use my earbuds without them.
@NapkinEater That worked for one of my friends and their AirPods, but the smallest tips in the set were still ~30% too large to comfortably fit my ears when I tried.
@NapkinEater Yeah, better than the silicone for sure, but even those irritate the skin in my ears after a couple hours. Annoying…
Trying to talk to someone when they are wearing wireless earbuds. But I guess people don’t talk anymore so that’s my bad.

@jtcrawford25
Be careful. Driving with earbuds (just one or both) in is not legal in some states and jurisdictions…
They don’t stay in my ears either.
Hmm, all these posts about earbuds with poor/uncomfortable fit lead me to believe that my long-held notion that I can’t wear them because my ears are non-standard may not be the case…
I’m annoyed with the comfort, or more appropriately discomfort levels of wearing earbuds. Honestly, I’m on the fence with this one
Most annoying thing is I don’t have any.
@smilingjack you can have some of mine; I think I had a dozen at one point. (They might not be a matching pair.)

Well mine are custom fitted to my ears.
@mycya4me

@chienfou @mycya4me that sounds like a hearing aid

Never comfy for more than an hour or two.
