Yep, they missed an opportunity to work that into the write-up as “he was quickly taken to the back by his nurse, Margarita”.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I’ll try again, although I embarassingly missed a couple last time this kind of challenge came up.

after spending 10 years watching YouTube chefs use $700 Vitamix blenders to powder ingredients or turn cashews into creamy sauce, I still don’t own a blender.
@ekw
We resisted getting a Vitamix for a long time due to cost. Then finally caved in when we saw one on sale at Sam’s when I realized there was no reason my wife shouldn’t have quality tools in her workspace, much as I do in mine. Though TBH I use it semi-frequently as well. It’s a beast. Well worth the expense when you break it down to per use cost.
It lived on a pull-out drawer in the base of one of our cabinets for years (with the KitchenAid mixer), which was a bit of a PITA since it’s heavy to move to the counter each time you want to use it. But it has recently taken up residence in a prime real estate spot on our kitchen counter since my wife has started juicing after her breast CA episode.
@chienfou I do like quality tools. that & my philosophy of “buy once, cry once” has at least kept me from spending $500 on a sequence of inferior blenders before finally spending even more on the Cadillac of blenders.
@chienfou@ekw We’ve had our Vitamix blender for over 30 years. Had to replace the carafe somewhere along the line (seized bearing) but it still runs like new.
@ekw@macromeh
If you’re inclined to use a blender for anything, the longer you put it off the less use you’ll get out of your Vitamix when you do finally buy one!
@chienfou@macromeh that is a fair point. though I have to think that if I have not had one this long, I probably don’t need it, I just think I want it.
Love that the absolutely #1 deepest colored state that’s bought the blender leaned towards margaritas and pitched for alcohol is Wisconsin. Way to go, you state of lushes!
@MatthewDembosky
With a sample size of 21 sold (spread over 13 states at 9 EDT) it doesn’t take much to push that needle!
But yes, having lived in Wisconsin, I can attest to their fondness for the “occasional” frequent adult beverage … Long winters and all that…
@HALFEEL same! I wish it was glass but after buying the fancy powerXL luminex airfryer w/ the transparent hoodtop basket during the last holiday when it went on sale for $40 was surprised how it didn’t measure up in quality to my NuWave Oven Brio that’s 5+yrs old. So cheaping out on quality materials or at least the illusion of them is a cost cutting measure for the brand.
@HALFEEL I will note though that the NuWave Brio model I have is the top one in the line at 15.5qts that lists at MSRP for ~$200 while the PowerXL Luminexs’ MSRP lists for ~$110, but is a new line model from last yr with the fancy heating element and viewable transparent basket so I guess those are it’s selling points. Just don’t know why this blender here only lists a 6month warranty and has virtually no online videos covering its review.
@McFortner probably right. Lots of pseudo-scientific 1970s lab equipment. Good book and movie; 50 years later, became relevant again. (Covid era). “Contagion” was good but pretty, young people come in and save the world in a few weeks which didn’t seem plausible.
At least with this they could have been making health smoothies, or if nothing else, blend up pseudo-margaritas with the lab-grade ethanol supply.

Did someone say margaritas?!?!?
@sillyheathen Seriously. Missed opportunity to say it can make margaritas.
@heartny @sillyheathen but is it Mac compatible?

What’s red and green and goes 90 miles an hour?
(Google knows…)
@phendrick Kermit in a blender
So, … one side blends while the other side simultaneously dices, slices, and juliennes. I’m in.
I think the Blendtec I got on meh years ago will be the last blender I ever buy.
What’s the movie?
@gnoogie the movie is “Some Like It Chopped,” starring Jack Lemon, Tony Curtis, and a blender.
@gnoogie @macphoenix “well… no one’s perfect…”

@ekw I recently got gifted a Blendtec & just this week I turned cashews into a creamy sauce!

I’m assuming the jar and cup are plastic and not glass?
@pmarin Amazon says it’s made of plastic
@clrobertson
That is my question as well. If it’s glass, I will buy it. If it’s plastic that is a “no go”.

If I had to guess on the movie, I’d go with “The Andromeda Strain”.

I really love finely chopped or minced sweet onion, I wonder how well this thing will do with that task?
