@narfcake@pmarin I’ve been proved wrong here (maybe somewhere else) where users have made shower toast rather easily (a rack positioned above the window, above the showerhead)
Our toaster somehow got its crumb tray infested with weevils, and also they infested outside of the crumb tray, so we threw the whole thing out and now I just use an air-fryer to make toast which it turns out is better anyway.
@chienfou Yep, we were surprised too. I guess the crumb tray is below the worst of the heat, but you’d still think it would be a hot, dry and unpleasant place, not a place to hatch your eggs! That said, this is in Florida, it’s probably cooler inside a toaster.
@chienfou@ravenblack that is creepy! Good point that the air fryer can work well, and if needed run it at max temp for about 20 minutes; nothing would survive and any remaining bits are extra protein.
So to use an old pun, that would be the lesser of two weevils.
@chienfou@pmarin My wife said I should also mention the most horrifying part, that the grubs resembled sesame seeds and there were also actual sesame seeds in the crumb tray so you’d have to stare at them for a while to detect movement. (May have been some other sort of beetle, not weevils, in which case we just also got infested with weevils, and ants, and gnats, and basically if it’s an insect it’ll somehow come here and just hang out in your sink or something even when you seal every source of food in airtight containers.)
Scottish toast:
Here’s tae us, wha’s like us? Damn few, and they’re a’ deid.
@Kyeh didn’t have quite enough Scotch yet today to fully get that. Actually no Scotch, just caffeine and beer.

@lisagd22 Great author, but don’t ever accept an invitation to go wine-tasting…
@lisagd22 @macromeh I tried it once, but nevermore.
@lisagd22 @pmarin
@aetris a while ago one of these sites had bamboo tongs for retrieving your toast, for exactly this reason. I got some and they are pretty cool.
@pmarin That HAS to work better than extracting your toast with a knife!?!
@aetris @pmarin
Or, ya know, you could just unplug the toaster first…
@macromeh It’s definitely one of these

I think.
@aetris @macromeh convenient (the rotating plug) but also a fire hazard (I hope they’re plugged into different circuits)

@pakopako That is the Best one!
@narfcake there’s got to be a safer way to make toast in a bathtub with your clothes on. Wait? What? So many things wrong here.
@narfcake @pmarin
Works with water bread…

@pakopako
Which begs the question … WHY?
@chienfou because they could, not because they should

/giphy Jurassic Park could and should

@ravenblack
I would have thought they wouldn’t be able to survive in those temperatures. Those were some hardy little bastards!

@pmarin–
I’m surprised nobody’s posted this one yet.
