Airline-approved with a 99.2Wh capacity and compliant with UN38.3 shipping standards, meeting TSA carry-on regulations for batteries under 100Wh
@fuzzmanmatt Ollie’s also has a lot of the same stuff, including the Dorothy brewers. So I thought they might have a buyer in Mississippi too.
I wasn’t surprised by Ollie’s, because they’re a closeout store. But I don’t picture Menard’s as a closeout place. Not that I have any Menard’s experience.
@Alereon@ergomeh it’s big for 100 watt output. Meh recently sold AUKEY (I think) power banks that had higher wattage output and they were small enough that they didn’t need a handle. Of course u get solar panels with these! That might make it worth it.
@Atomizer Low capacity - 99Wh. As pointed out, there are physically smaller systems (check Sidedeals) with that capacity. (And there were “electrically” bigger, some 100’s of Wh).
@Alereon
Exactly what I came here to say.
Unfortunately, I bought 2 of them on Morning Save thinking that they had some AC output capability- when will I ever learn to look more closely before buying.
That said, because the max output of one of the USB-C ports is 100 watts [per the labelling] I found some USB-C to 12V lighter port cables rated up to 65W and have inverters for my vehicles that seem to work as long as I keep the load reasonably low.

Can we stop with the AI-generated images please? I shouldn’t need to remind anyone that these AI companies are driving people from their homes. I like the overall vision of meh.com - keeping overstock out of landfills is a good thing - but I’m not giving y’all a pass just because you’re doing a good thing. Just take a photo with your own phone camera if you’re so unwilling to pay a photographer.
@chaddicus Most phone cameras use AI in some way now, too. For example, ever seen those super cool-looking moon photos everyone takes with their cellphones? It’s AI.
@chaddicus Yes! I never know if people don’t know or just don’t care about the impact when they decide to generate AI images for something like Meh comments!
“oh, but it’s practically nothing compared to the big companies” - ok, so just because they’re killing 100,000 songbirds it’s ok for you to go kill one just for fun? (example, just for context) Which then encourages those companies to keep doing it because “customers want and use it”
I mean this in the kindest way possible, but you probably should just avoid the internet altogether, @kytyn if you’re trying to reduce your e-emissions.
Coming on the internet to complain about big data is like complaining about people drinking while getting sloshed at a bar.
So, yes, I care deeply about lots of things, but complaining on the internet about computers…that’s a bridge too far for me.
@therealjrn The difference between a search engine search and asking ChatGPT something is ~10X the energy and ~340X the CO2 emissions. To make a medium level image takes at least 1000X the energy of that search. A high quality image about 7000X.
Using your example I’m enjoying the occasional glass of wine with dinner while complaining about drunk drivers mowing down pedestrians. Which is a perfectly valid thing to do.
@chaddicus@kytyn If I were you, then I would take it up with meh. Right now I am paying $? per month for free shipping, but really I am paying that in order to use the AI generator because reasons. Please get meh to cancel the feature and the AI images will go wayyyyyyy down.

@chaddicus@LocoLobo79 those are localized and can immediately hurt the user when they see their battery crater.
Larger unseen ones are the “silent killer”, but YMMV over how individuals want their convenience versus having to do the work themselves (having their own on-hand assistant) or do the work themselves (taking their own pictures) or do the work themselves (paying directly for a service).
@AA112358 the panel has a 7909 connector, you can use the panel for other uses if you buy an adapter. I’m using a 7909 to xt60 adapter to use the panel from this to charge another solar generator.
I can’t see whether the power bank can charge via solar while also providing power output. This is sometimes called “pass-through power”. If it does have this feature, it could provide continuous usb power without grid connection…
@lazslojamf
This is in the manual. Putting a link to the manual below for anyone to see:
Charge and discharge simultaneously
An advanced battery management system allows it to charge connected devices via both DC output and USB output while charging the H100
I bought this from a different retailer a few weeks back. Overall it’s pretty good, my one complaint is the solar panel connector. The solar panel uses a dc7909 connection, and this comes with a dc7909 to usb c adapter. A gust of wind blew over my solar panel, which broke their adapter, and so far I’ve tried 2 different types from Amazon and neither work.
I’ve settled on using a 7909 to xt60 to charge a different bluetti solar generator, and charging this exclusively from usb instead of solar.
@Christo196 yeah you could probably convert, then convert back. I believe it’s a 7909 to usb c pass-through, but the adapter states not to charge usb c devices. I’m assuming there’s some non compliance shenanigans where it’s just passing the ~16v from the solar panel through to the power bank, not using usb c pd specs.
Does the “30W solar panels” mean that this 100W power bank will fully charge in under 4 hours of bright sun? I readily admit I know little about what the ratings really mean. Thanks in advance for anyone who knows.
@Christo196 In this case, the 100 number is coincidentally close to the 99 number. The capacity is 99 Watt-Hours. The solar panels can recharge it at the theoretical rate of 30 Watts. 99WattHours/30Watt = 3.3 Hours
@Christo196 I got mine yesterday and plugged it in on a relatively bright day. The brick has a digital display that shows input wattage . It cruised along at 26-28 Watts in full sun.
Don’t leave the battery in the sun. It recommends temps lower than 104°
@Christo196 not sure what is decent about that review. It’s a lot of sales talk and then how good a deal it is with their coupon code … because they want a kickback for moving units.
Especially when it says: “To charge the H100 portable power station, simply use one of its many inputs…” and there is exactly 1 charging input- the USB-C 100 W in/out port.
Get out of my TV meh! How did they know I’ve been binging episodes of Vanwives?
Anyway, as tempting as it is to drop a couple of Jacksons…this is not powerful enough for much, and an external phone battery should do if I need to go boon-docking.
I recently had an occasion to use a remotely located USBA connection needed by a powered TV antenna. The booster needed a USBA power plug and the antenna was wayyy across the room. But I had an extra port on a UPS nearby.
@redskyatnight A solar panel is a panel, it generates electricity from light. It will eventually charge anything(as long as the charge rate is faster than the natural discharge rate of the battery it is charging)
I was really considering this. It does passthrough charging according to my research. I just cannot do the 25% upcharge for shipping. I’m going to pass.

$30 bux off? Meh
“The power of the sun in the palm of my hand.”
$33.70 at Menard’s for the next 40 minutes or so, with a rebate on top of that. If you live near a Menard’s you can do free ship to store and get this for $10 less. https://www.menards.com/main/electrical/solar-wind-power/wattbricks-100w-portable-power-station-with-solar-panel/h100b/p-4420330307044668-c-6292.htm
If you don’t, well, I’m with you. Neither do I.
This was the same price at Sam’s a little while back but I missed out. I’m not sure it came with the solar panels then.
@djslack I was walking through Menards earlier today and saw the Dorothy iced coffee maker for sale, too! Did a Meh buyer move to Wisconsin?
@fuzzmanmatt Ollie’s also has a lot of the same stuff, including the Dorothy brewers. So I thought they might have a buyer in Mississippi too.
I wasn’t surprised by Ollie’s, because they’re a closeout store. But I don’t picture Menard’s as a closeout place. Not that I have any Menard’s experience.
@djslack that’s a deal breaker
@djslack mail in rebate… I haven’t seen those words in like a decade.
@heartbleed It’s not really a rebate. It’s store credit. They’ve been sued over it.
@djslack I have choice words for John Menard about how he treats his employees. They’d probably get me banned for commenting any of them.
Never mind the flurry of lawsuits brought upon them for their mail in rebate shenanigans.
I don’t think most people would call this a “power station” since it doesn’t have AC output. This is a power bank with a solar panel.
@Alereon No AC output? It was tempting until you wrote that.
Is this the first time they left the AI-film image as-is versus inserting an image of the actual product? Not complaining, just curious.
@Alereon and physically very large for something so electrically small. 100W output is not bad though…
@Alereon @ergomeh it’s big for 100 watt output. Meh recently sold AUKEY (I think) power banks that had higher wattage output and they were small enough that they didn’t need a handle. Of course u get solar panels with these! That might make it worth it.
@ergomeh WTF does “electrically small” mean?!?
@Atomizer Low capacity - 99Wh. As pointed out, there are physically smaller systems (check Sidedeals) with that capacity. (And there were “electrically” bigger, some 100’s of Wh).
@Alereon Maybe a power outpost or branch?

@cfg83 @macromeh @stinks now that’s the real question.
I’d go with two. Maybe three if you count that thing at the back of the hoof as a sort of thumb. (What’s that thing called? a dewclaw?)
Ok but I LOLed at the goat having actual fingers in this pic. Pilgor would be horrified!

@mediocrebot @therealjrn Egg-zactly. I heard the quote from this 100% no-AI podcast :

@chaddicus @MuddyG Which phones can do that?
Any solar experts out there? Can the panel be hooked up for other applications, let’s say directly to charge a 12V car battery?
@AA112358
You’d need something that would be able to moderate the flow so that you don’t overcharge the battery.
@AA112358 the panel has a 7909 connector, you can use the panel for other uses if you buy an adapter. I’m using a 7909 to xt60 adapter to use the panel from this to charge another solar generator.
@AA112358 I have used gizmos like this in the past :
30A 12V/24V Solar Panel Battery Charge Controller LCD Auto Regulator Dual USB US | eBay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/188031562638
In many cases the solar panel is too wimpy to damage the car battery, but I would never take that chance, so the above gives me peace of mind.
Apparently it’s not the best deal according to the forum, but the silver lining here is that the battery is LFP: SDS Sheet
Sure, it’s heavier than regular Li-ion, but it should last longer.
@heartbleed Heavier, but since it’s so small, it shouldn’t really matter too much.
@AA112358 @heartbleed
It’s not awfully heavy for the capacity.
The biggest limitation being it has only USB-C and A outputs, and no AC.
@heartbleed The Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is a perk. Makes it a wee bit less obsolete.
I can’t see whether the power bank can charge via solar while also providing power output. This is sometimes called “pass-through power”. If it does have this feature, it could provide continuous usb power without grid connection…
@lazslojamf it can do pass through power. I’ve charged this while having a laptop plugged into it.

Is the dc7909 to usb c adapter that passthrough plug connector shown in image 5?
Seems like they’d use a standard part but sounds like the wiring is different from regular adapters from Amazon
I wonder if Convert to X plus a Convert X to USB C would work, but I suppose that’s just complicating things too much.
