Lumbar memory? Yes. Yes, I recall it. It was before MDF or particle board. But I don’t think I ever sat on it while driving. Though I do think that might have helped keep me awake that one time.
@BioBill@phendrick I was thinking of when my wife and I and 2 nephews + niece had to share a big ol’ F250 bench seat. No such thing as power seats or lumbar support unless you had a tiny pillow.
@werehatrack
I still have a stock of sticks of RAM I got in an IRK last year. Not sure if they are rejects or worth $thousands…Did not have a computer new enough to try them.
Whisper me if interested. I have no way to test. About 1 1/2 trays.
@DisabledWarVet4@phendrick I bought a similar looking one from amazon a while back, Sunbeam branded. My husband took it so I’m trying these. The Sunbeam one is listed as frequently returned, I don’t know why. I liked it while I had it.
@DisabledWarVet4@phendrick@sammydog01
I got the taller wider cousins of these when they were on Sidedeal and I like them. I wanted an alternative to the polyester cushion I was using on my couch because it was so hot on those 90+ days. (They’re sold out now.)
@Kyeh Thank you! I’m fighting back pain and hate doctors. I’ll give it a shot along with the mattress topper I got on Morningsave and the random fitness people that instagram shows me. (The cushions were on sidedeal not morningsave in case anyone else wants them.)
@Kyeh Weird it’s on the morningsave front page as a daily deal but doesn’t come up on search. I got my VMP discount on sidedeal so it was cheaper. My house will be full of lumbar support.
@mycya4me I swapped all of the narrow seats off long ago, and the first bike I’ll be riding to get back in shape is an Electra Townie with pedal assist. Once I’m up to five miles with no strain on that, I’ll swap to the Trek carbon hybrid for no-power riding and the GoPower Eagle for trips where I want the range boost and strain reduction. The Townie is easily the most comfortable, so I’ll keep using it as well.
@werehatrack I do have a Trek off road bike. I picked it up in the Outer Banks of NC when I was there for a week. It was cheaper than renting, I then Keep the bike. I now have a “Road Set” of tires for the Trek. All tread on the road surface & one row of knobs on the side. Still 2 inch wide. I have also well before Covid rode the “Va Creeper” (Rails 2 trails) from top to bottom. Great ride. No electric assist. 100% Me Power.
@mycya4me I used to ride 25 miles at the drop of a hat, but I’m 72 and had restricted activity for 15 months starting in January of last year, with less restriction for the second quarter of this year. And then summer happened, and I stayed inside. That ends later this week.
@Kyeh@PooltoyWolf I think the “+” affectation is an attempt to be Cool And Trendy because the “&” is allegedly a mark of being ancient. I call it “fail”.
@Sorry_Nothing Back in my day, the older B&D stuff was damn good kit, and they made things like valve seat grinders that were pretty much the standard of the repair industry. But their consumer stuff was already cheaping out, and by the '70s, they were pumping out things like a 3/8" electric one-speed drill with a one-foot power cord and a sheet-metal-housing chuck, for the handsome price of under ten bucks. Not utter crap, but not the kind of B&D that my father’s generation remembered. And now? They’re just a name.
@ketchupqueen@user20919791 I was curious so I did a search and the results stated that the Occupant Detection Systems (ODS) or weight sensor mats (detection of a person of significant weight to activate airbags) are in the seats and not the sensors you referred. Those are in the structure of vehicles frame near the seats for side crashes. If that has been a resent change then google search did not find that info.
@ketchupqueen@mehmef@user20919791 A big part of the problem with any aftermarket lumbar support cushion is the fact that in a crash, you’re going to be sitting farther forward on the seat cushion with your upper torso and head farther away from the seat structure. When the sensors detect a crash-like vehicle movement, the shoulder belts’ autotension widget will not be able to firmly press your torso against the backrest properly, increasing the risk of injury as you get whipped around. The side impact bag sensors will likely be unaffected.
Some vehicles have sensors there which being out of position will further affect, which is what I was getting at. (This is more important for smaller women than other drivers.) But in general, don’t add stuff to your vehicle seat. It can interfere with the safe functioning of occupant protection systems that are designed to function with just a human body in the seat and the seatbelt routed normally.
While I’m at it, don’t recline your seat excessively (past 30 degrees back from vertical.) That can also cause increased risk of injury.

@phendrick
I’m not sure but I think I remember using some plywood once when the seat cushions got worn out.
@BioBill talk about sitting in the “cheap seats”. Sounds like my old pickup when I was a student. Dodge D100.
@BioBill @phendrick I was thinking of when my wife and I and 2 nephews + niece had to share a big ol’ F250 bench seat. No such thing as power seats or lumbar support unless you had a tiny pillow.
Grab them quick before some purchasing agent for a data center mistakes them for sticks of RAM and orders the whole thing.

The Amazon listing is from sidedeal. I guess you bought them all?

@sammydog01 Surprisingly low number of 1 and 2 star ratings there, for a product that winds up on Meh.
@phendrick @sammydog01-i checked Amazon & they are rated 4.2
there, but i’m elderly + it’s 12:45 AM, so i may be wrong!! 🫣

@DisabledWarVet4 @Kyeh @phendrick Darn it, now I want those instead.
@DisabledWarVet4 @phendrick @sammydog01 Oh, sorry!
@sammydog01 They’ve got these tall ones on Morningsave right now!
@Kyeh Thank you! I’m fighting back pain and hate doctors. I’ll give it a shot along with the mattress topper I got on Morningsave and the random fitness people that instagram shows me. (The cushions were on sidedeal not morningsave in case anyone else wants them.)
@sammydog01 They’re on both sites! I knew because I get emails from Morningsave. But anyway I’m glad you got some, I hope you like them.

@sammydog01 Sounds good!
You won’t have to move the cushions around, you can leave them on all the various chairs.
These won’t make a margarita but Black and Decker does make a blender that will.
@BioBill- didn’t Black & Decker move to China¿?
@BioBill @DisabledWarVet4 Only Decker did, Black runs a BBQ in Lockhart, TX now.

Lumbar Memory?
I don’t, but Pepperidge Farm remembers.
/youtube pepperidge farm remembers
How about having to sit on one of those Doughnut pillows for a long time.
@mycya4me this message brought to you by Pepperidge Farms
@mycya4me BTDT, and have finally reached the point where I can get back on the bike.
@werehatrack with a specially seat. The Banana seats are VERY bad for males! That is the reason the wider seats with the hole in the middle.

@werehatrack Congrats! Have fun. Go Ride!
Might be the weirdest thing I have seen them put the Black & Decker name on so far.
@PooltoyWolf Note that it’s not “Black & Decker,” it’s “Black + Decker.” I read that they did that to convey a wider range of products or something.
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf Like Hell + Bowell.
@Kyeh I always assumed that was done as part of a contrived brand image reimagining.
@Kyeh @werehatrack We do not speak that name…ever since the brand was sold out!
@PooltoyWolf Yes, that’s probably more accurate.
@Kyeh @PooltoyWolf I think the “+” affectation is an attempt to be Cool And Trendy because the “&” is allegedly a mark of being ancient. I call it “fail”.
@PooltoyWolf That’s why I call them Hell + Bowell, they are undeserving of the original name, and their Borging of it is a cruel mockery.
Back in my day Black and Decker meant shoddy tools that were black and orange.
@Sorry_Nothing Back in my day, the older B&D stuff was damn good kit, and they made things like valve seat grinders that were pretty much the standard of the repair industry. @Sorry_Nothing at least they’re diversifying so we have the B&D warning label on more items that are garbage quality.
As a traffic safety professional, please don’t sit on these in the car, they may interfere with the way your seatbelt functions in a crash. Thank you
@ketchupqueen it doesn’t seem like you sit ON them. You put it behind your back. Would it still affect the seat belt function?
@user20919791 yep! In modern cars there are sensors back there for the airbag as well. Not a good idea. Great for office chairs tho
@ketchupqueen @user20919791 I was curious so I did a search and the results stated that the Occupant Detection Systems (ODS) or weight sensor mats (detection of a person of significant weight to activate airbags) are in the seats and not the sensors you referred. Well back in my day I used my black and decker to CUT lumbar NOT “support” it, now every one gets a ribbon! Harumph!
Is that a Lempicka painting? It’s almost sorta kinda looks like one.
“Hey Peter, what’s happenin’?” Wrong Lumbar?
