Build-An-IRK
2[I have no idea if something like this has been proposed before, so apologies if this is a redundant idea.]
It would be really cool if IRK listings had two options.
First option is the regular IRK.
Second option: Build-An-IRK for something like $5-10 extra dollars.
You get to pick one big item from a Big IRK Box List, and then meh still tosses in the little random, unknown filler stuff. Basically, you would be paying to get your shipping label on a specific IRK box with a specific big item inside.
You can’t see the Big IRK Box List until after purchase is complete. I know that would require a bit of a change in the ordering system. Maybe meh could utilize a system like PledgeBox (used by Kickstarter creators) to get the “Big IRK Box choice” from us meh-ers after purchase.
Granted, once you can see the Big IRK Box List, then you know what other big items are sitting in IRK boxes ready to go out. But I think that would be a boon for meh that would help sell IRK boxes, because if someone sees something else they want, they could buy another Build-An-IRK at the added cost. Win-win?
The negative of that would be that a person has bought one Build-An-IRK, now knows what other big items there are, and doesn’t want anything else, whereas that person “might” have bought a few regular IRKs without knowing what’s inside. I don’t know how often folks buy more than one IRK at a time, so that would be an interesting statistic to compare the idea against.

I think most of us like the surprise more than anything. How often have you had this exchange:
“what did you get?”
“mystery box”
:eyeroll:
When you figure that out, then you can start suggesting how things should work around here.
Most of the time there’s only a couple of said big ticket items available so your build an irk theory really doesn’t apply. Second, that’s A LOT more work for the staff than they already have to do. Third, the whole point had always been based around the surprise.
Instant REGRET Kit
and the price jump required to make this viable would be enormous
And a lot of the IRK boxes are prepped and sealed in advance, just waiting for shipping labels
And since these offers, as finally shipped, are full of stuff that they probably don’t have enough (inventory-wise) to sell through other venues, they wouldn’t have enough for the IRK demand either
/giphy “instant regret”

I say pay $5-$10 extra to guarantee no trackrs

While the company is defunct, other mehmbers have reported that they work with the Swiftfinder app.
