@Cerridwyn Yay! I’m glad I had an orange and black IRK bag for the sole member of the Meh Halloween exchange Enjoy the sugar rush And also, both bags of coffee are the same, do not fret, there is nothing nefarious about the bag labeled ‘Trick!’
Those Nerds almost didn’t make it into the box. Heh. And you would have been none the wiser
@Cerridwyn And also, I have a sad story about some of the wonderful glassware you had sent to me.
I was in the basement working at my desk when I heard a crash and a scream from upstairs. I ran up to the kitchen and found quite the mess. It seems my wife had fumbled a mixing bowl that bounced along the countertop and struck the double walled carafe you had sent me, and sent it to the floor. Shattering into 1.4 bazillion shards of very fine glass. Meh.
My wife couldn’t move because, and not to sound misogynistic, she was barefoot in the kitchen I had socks on so I walked carefully over to her. I could feel the glass under my feet, but it wasn’t too pokey pokey. Thankfully she is a wee Irish lass, so I picked her up and caried her out of the kitchen. I will say that carrying another human does not help with the pokey pokey underfoot.
I swept the kitchen three times and then grabbed one of my named flashlights (it’s called Daylight) to check for glints or reflections of any shards that I might have missed. When everything was clear, I removed my socks and tossed them. If you didn’t know, I am a man of many socks
I’m still kind of bummed about the carafe, but the mugs and the espresso cups are still in frequent rotation. Love them! Thanks again for your generosity
@Cerridwyn Yeah, thankfully everyone is fine. It was just an unfortunate mess. And that glass is impossibly thin. Feels weird drink scalding liquid out of it… heh. Even the dog came running, but she understands English so when she is told to hold, she stays put. I think she is secretly thinking, ‘Am I going to get a treat? Am I GOING to get a treat???’
@Cerridwyn@Kidsandliz Those are two of the four espresso cups that Cerridwyn of the South sent me. They are double walled thin glass to act as an insulator. They are super light weight and are… well… very cool It’s weird to drink hot liquid out of thin glass. She also sent a pair of glass mugs that are the inverse of each other. I like them very much as well And there was also the double walled carafe that we don’t talk about anymore… heh.
@capnjb@Cerridwyn There is another club out there too. I am @capnjb’s charter member of the Secret-Not-So-Secret-Chocolate-Lovers-Club. Woo-Hoo! Made a separate post about that.
@capnjb@Kidsandliz question capn
if you make the fcoffee the same way in each glass, do they taste different?
the theory is that it filters the molecules differently so that the smell is different and that impacts the taste, sorta like a scotch glass (those do work btw)
@Cerridwyn@Kidsandliz To be honest, I don’t know I’ve roasted coffee for a lot of people and I’ve often been asked, ‘How do I make it?’ My response is always, ‘It’s coffee. Make it the way to like to have coffee.’ To me, coffee is comfort food in liquid form I drink it black. I think freshly roasted coffee makes all the difference. And I know a guy If you like your coffee with oat milk and Splenda… have at it. Your cup of coffee is your cup of coffee. You do you I’m no coffee snob. And there really isn’t anything magic about my coffee. I do primarily buy single estate beans, meaning all the beans come from the same farm. Supermarket bags of coffee are normally wild blends of beans with a large portion being the cheapest beans they could find, because profit margins. And they are likely stale before you pick them up off the shelf. Freshly roasted beans really make a difference.
Okay… that was a bit of a rant to just say drink fresh coffee
I should probably get back to answering your question. I honestly haven’t thought about quantifying the tasting notes like I might with a glass of wine. The next pot I brew I’ll try some in a ceramic mug (courtesy of @chienfou ), both of the glass coffee mugs, and an espresso mug that you sent. However, my ADHD might make it happen a few pots from now… heh. But I’ll let you know if I find anything I can report on I will say though, I do very much enjoy using them. They are far more than just a novelty.
@capnjb@Cerridwyn@Kidsandliz Personally, I’d be wary of those inverse mugs. Sooner or later, in the fog of early morning consciousness, I’d expect myself to turn one of them wrong side up with hot coffee in play.
It’d also be amusing to have a mug in a simulated Klein bottle format.
/image Klein bottle
And for what it’s worth I can’t spell for shit. I’d like to think I have a reasonably robust vocabulary, but I can definitely not spell definitely correctly on the first try. Heh. My weird brain seems to always think an A goes in there somewhere
@capnjb@Cerridwyn@Kidsandliz@phendrick
I could definitely see the confusion about thinking the glass is upside down.
I have been known in the early morning to pull a mug out of the cabinet we store them in,
flip it upside down
and proceed to pour coffee all over the outside of the cup …
when I find out that my wife put THAT cup in the cabinet right side up instead of the usual upside down. Always a bit of a shock.
Muscle memory is weird.
?
I suppose it might’ve been me, but I don’t remember any naughtiness.
Then again, maybe the trauma of being naughty erased it from my mind
@f00l he knows
Oh, crap. What did I do?
@Pony that not the question, the Question is whatever did you NOT do?
Just remember. Revenge is a dish the surf called but sometimes it’s okay if it’s hot
@Cerridwyn Yay! I’m glad I had an orange and black IRK bag for the sole member of the Meh Halloween exchange
Enjoy the sugar rush

@Cerridwyn And that is a wild autocorrect
Please remember rule #7
@capnjb I only know the rules for the super duper secret Revenge Exchange
@Cerridwyn Re-read the fine print
I’m keeping my eye on you, Celtic Bad Ass.

It seems I may have conjured today’s Meh offering with that post last night
@Cerridwyn Still in rotation
@capnjb @Cerridwyn to be dumb what the heck are those things in the photo? I presume that is coffee in them?

@capnjb @Cerridwyn @Kidsandliz (definitely would invite spills…)
@Cerridwyn @Kidsandliz @phendrick My wife would definitely break that.
