I rake them away from the middle of the yard into the flower beds for mulch. And I collect other people’s big paper bags of leaves to dump in my compost pile. Leaves are a terrific thing to have in your yard.
I hate change. So I tried gluing them back on but that worked about as well as a government fiscal program.
So now I just leaf them alone until the mower mulches them
It isn’t cool to blow them into the roadway. They can wind up in the storm gutters and here, that crap goes to the Bay…The Gulf Of Mexico BTW. Illegal and Not Cool. That’s why when in construction, they place big burlap looking rolls to block the storm/curb drain/gutter openings. I mulch them, it’s also kind of ridiculous to fill the landfill with yard waste. When bagged in plastic, it takes forever to break down. Can’t stand to see 20-30 bags of grass clippings on the curb. Come on people, compost it…Mulch it?
The wind eventually hands them to my neighbors who want to rake the leaves more than I do. Those that resist the wind get to hang out until they decompose.
We have a small yard and like 7 trees, first round was mow with the bagger. Next round will be mulch as long as I get to them before all three maples fully drop. Worse case is blowing them into a pile and then using the vacuum attachment on the blower to mulch them, which reduces the volume of leaves considerable. Yeah, it is a process. No matter what we do though, we still have leaves sitting on the ground in the spring.
I will generally pick mine up with the rider and bagger. Those then get used to cover my garden over the winter. The next spring they will get tilled in.
Whatever doesn’t get picked up by the bagger end up getting mulched back into the yard. Win win win…
Just ran a circuit around my backyard with the bagger disconnected and the mower deck all the way up to deadhead all the seed pods that have popped up in the last few weeks. Grass isn’t growing very fast right now. I’ll come back in a week or two and cut the grass one final time and use it to mulch around the yard as well. Ideally that will contain less seed in it.
I don’t do anything. I’m so allergic to the mold in the ground and a lot of local trees (among other things), I’ll be puking, get a horrible sinus infection that turns into a respiratory infection or pneumonia bc the I get so bad so quick, my face will break out uncontrollably and I’ll just plain out miserable for weeks. Unfortunately it took me till I was about 25 before my mom finally believed me so I had a LOT miserable falls (and summers from cutting grass).
No yard, no leaves
@Cerridwyn Alternatively, no fall no leaves.
@Weboh no yard no fall no leaves all the above
We have someone come to do it since it has become less fun as we have gotten older. We used to mulch them into the lawn with our mower.
We don’t need to. Not many trees around us that aren’t evergreens.
You want to leave them as nesting places for the good insects, like fireflies.
@Luko26 This,
!
I solved this issue by having no trees in my yard.
All of the above
I just ignore them.
@brennyn I leave them on the ground because where they are, there’s no weeds. Kind of like mulch without the extra step.
@brennyn @Fuzzalini I also ignore them
Live in a condo, so the gardeners come and blow them around

@phendrick Had to fight my phone. Twice it changed “mulches” above to “munches”, which I guess also works.
@phendrick

Mow the shit out of them so they feed the weeds and crab grass that make up much of my lawn
@JvB
Yep in my mind
green=lawn
@chienfou @JvB I just call it my yard rather than my lawn.
@Kyeh
Great idea!
(As long as you haven’t done any prison time… then it might be a trigger…)
The landlord pays someone to take care of them bi-monthly.

Rake/blow into piles and then, either, straight into the compost pile or burn then into compost/garden.
The thing that makes the bitter winter wind chills bearable is the fact that it’s doing my raking for me.
Leave 'em for birds, pollinators, voles…
I waited 60 years for someone to endorse just letting them sit.
@user94988313 exactly this.

Literally nothing. They stay and hang out until they don’t.
Pollinators and compost!
Nothing. Wind takes em. We don’t have enough to worry about. Good old Nevada desert.
