My husband’s dogs are unruly morons. Can’t take them anywhere because they’ll wreak havoc. My cats, on the other hand, are perfect angels. Fallen angels, but it still counts, right?
@tweezak
Unfortunately all of my former dogs learned that trick way too well. The last one perfected it about 20 years ago.
We were petless for many years until we were adopted by a cat a few years back. That “tail” has been told elsewhere.
TBH I miss having dogs.
When my boy was a pup he was dutifully watching me load the dishwasher. I said, “Uh oh buddy! Mama left her bowl in the living room!” I then turned to finish loading and next thing I knew he had gone and gotten his BALL (not bowl) and dropped it into the bottom rack! Fine, it’s not something he was trained for, but it was precious and almost ten years later it still brings me joy.
My dogs have always been better trained than my son. You would’ve thought he could have learned something from them. But, no. And he ate better.
Now he’s 1000 miles away and doesn’t write. At least his girl friend does.
My dog is surprisingly well trained. He knows sit, lie down, go for walk, fooding time, STFU, good boy, bad boy and several others.
Maybe not so impressive to some, but considering he was born deaf and learned some ASL, I think that’s pretty amazing… (I did not train him - it was a previous caretaker.)
My dog is a small friendly love bug, but she’s not well trained, I’m too much of a pushover. That’s why she stays on a short leash when we’re outside because I know she will try to climb everybody she meets to get held.
When we had a 50 pound dog he was trained ok. Now we have a 10 pound dog who doesn’t listen to any thing we tell her unless it is something she wants like going for a walk.
Why have a dog, When Cats Rulz & Dogs drool
Meh.

My old dog knows one trick: play dead. I can find him anywhere in the house performing for hours.

@chienfou I hear you. We had to let go of one of our dogs last year. The remaining one is close but not quite ready so we spoil him a lot.

@melbell
That’s adorable…
@chienfou @melbell
That IS! Smart pup!

The dog has us trained.
@hchavers so do most Cats
with their subjects.
Our dogs started out well trained. Because I worked at it. 10 years later they were so so. Because I stopped working at it.
My dogs turned out pretty good seeing how little I knew what I was doing. But they don’t know how to do tricks. Maybe it’s time to try.
@Fuzzalini
Good social skills are the best “trick” you can teach your dog.
My ceramic statue dog is perfect! Never barks, requires little food, and I can always find him!
