Meh to the rescue!
10Despite the reviews, I bought one of the emergency air compressors. Well, with the temperature change, I woke up to 4 low tires. And it was raining. I was able to put more air in the tires in the comfort of my own garage. ![]()
So ignore the reviews, it works great!

I bought a similar one a year or so ago from here (Fanttik S100). I’ve used it once or twice. It’s a nice little bit of peace of mind to have it in the back of my vehicle.
edit - and I hope you enjoyed a cup of tea afterwards
Rainy days and tea go well together
@capnjb today was a diet dr pepper on the way to the fair.
@capnjb @ironcheftoni Texas State Fair? How was it this year? (Went couple years ago. Saw some of the expos, but it’s lost a lot of its appeal for me now that I’m too
oldjaded for the rides. And the food costs were ridiculous.)@capnjb @phendrick the prices have been lowered a bit after all the pushback last year. I went twice last week and to go two more times next week
@capnjb @ironcheftoni @phendrick
Went about a decade ago to (sadly, that year) watch OU whip TX)
And… Get a sunburn
And… eat too much deep fried stuff.
Was fun but too expensive really.
And the scalped game tix were really expensive.

Hope next Sat’s Red River Shootout game turns out the other way.
The Longhorns are supposed to win every yea, by decree from Mt Olympus or some such place.
But, during some years, the Fates apparently got drunk, and let OU slip in a win.
The ticket sales are split
50% OU (red/white)
50% Texas (burnt orange/white)
The stadium dividing line for ticket sales at each school is the 50 yard line
This game was legendary for the ruckus it caused in Dallas each year in the old days
From whenever the game started being a tradition through the 1970s or early 80s it wasn’t so much the partying and drinking during the game or anything like that. There was no hooliganism.
It was the partying and drinking of both sides the night before Friday night in downtown back in downtown Dallas was a place people hung out after dark
And then the partying and so forth the night after the game at least by the winning side because the other side might have already left town
Back in those days, everybody was just getting drunk and going from Barto bar getting more drunk and there was so much racket in the streets that at one point one of the very upscale downtown hotels had an international diplomatic conference being hosted
And some of the delegates to the conference were so afraid of the noise they turned off their lights and closed their curtains and contacted the front desk to ask if a revolution was in progress
It had to be explained that now it was just a college football game
Back then, the police used to set aside entire city blocks with barriers at either end just to act as temporary jails and cooling off sites
They tried the segregate the detain by team, according to which color the person was wearing, or which slogans the person was yelling
They usually just grabbed people who could no longer walk or who were doing property destruction or who were splashing beer or something on the other people or trying to start fights, stuff like that.
Usually, most of the people who got detained were pretty easy about it after they calm down a bit and we’re just held until they could walk straight and promise not to be in any more fights or mess up any more property
It wasn’t ever true hooliganism
More like just an annual drunk and disorderly festival
Most of the folk out getting blasted out of their minds we’re actually pretty friendly
This reminds me - I gave a friend one of those Tacklife jumpstarters from here a couple of years ago because she was going to drive up to WA and back.
She recently moved, and her car died in the driveway because she left the doors open too long. She dreaded having to wait several hours for AAA (she was in the mountains) and then she remembered that starter. She was so happy to find that it still had its charge from 3 years ago & was super easy to use!
@Kyeh
Those things are actually quite amazing.
I keep one in each vehicle and have used them as gifts for new drivers. I try to remember to top off the charge in mine in January and July just to be sure. I’ve had to use it for myself (dome light left on while car was parked at the airport and once when my generator died in Nashville) as well as for others. Great little gizmo
@chienfou So it isn’t too hot in your cars to leave it in them all the time?
@chienfou @Kyeh Under the seat, the temp is usually a lot lower than up on the dash. Ditto for buried under the stuff in the trunk.
@Kyeh
So far they’ve all survived with no problem. The only issue I’ve had was with the one in my Rav4.
I used to store it in the space under the back floor. Turns out you can’t open the back end unless you use the remote… which means the car MUST have power. But, there is NO key hole to allow you open it from the outside, no handle to allow you to open it from the inside!
When we came back from our trip to a dead battery, we had to crawl through the car and try to reach it over the back seat which was inconvenient since that’s from the wrong side (so you have to reach over the floor panel as you’re lifting it). What a PITA.
That case now resides under the front driver’s seat.
@chienfou Ugh, I hadn’t thought of that! I really hate that you can’t open all car doors mechanically anymore. I’m glad you figured it out, but what a hassle.
@chienfou @Kyeh
Those things can save the day if they’re charged up properly
But I’ve also had some luck just going and knocking on doors and asking if anybody who was a neighbor would jumpstart my car
I’m pretty careful to make sure I only have to do this less than once a decade at most.
